The weather might have been chilly, but the the sun shone brightly for City as they battled strongly against their more highly fancied opponents, to send out a word of warning to other clubs, that City is a force to be reckoned with. Pre match hype had City on a hiding to nothing and the first grade result would have dented the aspirations of the this year's Federation Cup winners and given Knight's coach something to think about after being quoted in the local press of the importance of gaing full points.
City's good fortune started with a gutsy perfromance by the U18's as Connor Alexander and then Alex Csomor got on the scorboard to post a final score of 2-1.
The Pathway League further enhanced City's dominance with Rama Myers close to best form combining with Zac Rando up front for City causing all kind of problems for the Kight's defence.
In the 20th minute Myers chipped the Knight's goal keeper Jason Denham to go 1 up and City could have added a few more except for Debhams fine performance. When City's Tom Davies was brought down in the penaly area in the 70th minute Myers stepped up and put the result beyond doubt with a spot kick into the roof of the net. The Knight 's woes continued as first one of their players was sent from the field for ill discipline and then a second yellow card for Steve Godbolt saw him get his marching orders.
In the first grade game the Knights took an early 16 minute lead when A. Barac was able to out fox the City defence on the edge of the area and place the ball past City custodian James Ward. Knights much vaunted striker Goran Veljanovski, who is tipped as a golden boot candidate, was held in check for most of the game by City central defender James Perry.Midway through the second half Leon Tarbotten was brought down just outside the Knight's 18 yard box and in the ensuing free kick taken by Pat Ross-McGee one of the Kights players in the wall was adjudged by referee David Kurthi of hand ball. A result in the the first grade game was always a big ask after belconnen's Dustin Wells made a meal out of falling over the ball in the penalty area in the opening minutws and pulling the spot kick. David Leet added a second for BUFC before half time for the hosts to go into the break 2-0. The second half proved jsut as much of a hurdle and City's only real chance at scoring was when Kevin Room came on for Leon Tarbotten and crack a 25 meter effort against belconnen's cross bar. In the U18's match Woden went in at half time 2-0 to the good but City's youngsters rallied in the second half to grab a goal back and looked as though they could snatch a draw but were held out by a strong Woden Defence. This was a much improved performance from City against a Woden outfit that dominated last years U18 compettition. As well as the three competition points Woden earned 1 point for the lifeline cup.
In the Pathways match City started strongly and dominated the first half. Fred Hess scored for City in an impressive 90 minute display. Man of the match Rama Myers tries on the Woden defence.

In first grade City again started strongly with some blistering channel runs by Zac Maybury who was back in the side after a one match suspension. It was in the fifteenth minute that City set up its goal. Captain Tim Malysiak got hold of the ball in midfield and put though an incisive pass for Kev Room to run at the defence. Kev played an early ball to teenager Scott Unterheiner on the right and Scott beat one defender and running into the 18 yard area ripped a shot beyond the next defender and Woden goal keeper for an impressive goal. it looked as though City would be on its way to their first League win for 2008. however Woden responded just a minute later when they were awarded a free kick just beyond the City box and Wodens Marcin Zygmunt taking the spot kick quickly caught both the City defence and keeper James Ward before they could be set to level the scores.
Both sides battled strongly for the remainder of the 90 minutes and when Tal Evans was sent from the field in the 85 minute for a second yellow, after raking City defender James Perry with his studs, it looked as though City would steal the points. Woden hung on for their first table point as the match finshed 1-1.
Best for City were Scott Unterheiner, Zac Maybury and James Ward with James Perry having a strong return game along side Jonathan Bills and Simon Allen.
